Faculty Development Program

India’s higher education ecosystem is undergoing a major transformation as institutions work to align academic learning with evolving industry and workforce expectations. However, several recent studies and education reports continue to highlight significant gaps in industry readiness, practical learning exposure, and faculty preparedness across higher education institutions. Nearly 75% of higher education institutions in India are still not fully industry-ready, while only 8.6% institutions reported strong curriculum alignment with industry requirements. At the same time, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 strongly emphasizes continuous faculty development, industry-academia collaboration, experiential learning, and technology-enabled education as critical drivers for building future-ready institutions.

Recognizing the importance of empowering educators, the Faculty Development Program (FDP) forms a key pillar of the Code Unnati initiative. The program is built on the belief that sustainable transformation in technical education begins with strengthening faculty capabilities. Beyond technical training, the FDP also contributes toward building stronger institutional ecosystems by enabling faculty members to drive Centres of Excellence (CoEs), mentor student innovation initiatives, and foster a culture of continuous learning within campuses. Till date, SAP Code Unnati has empowered more than 1,350 faculty members through structured Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), strengthening the capacity of partner institutions to create future-ready learning environments and nurture the next generation of skilled professionals.
